Does 2004 Z4 2.4 have A/C

I am currently looking for a 2.5 Z4 (2003-2005) and would be grateful for some clarification on basic specs. included with these models in respect of A/C options available for all Z4s between 2003 and 2009.

I understand that some form of air conditioning was included as part of the basic spec for all Z4 versions, can anyone confirm this, and what do the descriptions mean when they refer to manual A/C or climate control (is there a difference). I am currently communicating with someone selling a 2004 Z4 2.5 (standard spec) who states that the car does not have A/C (I haven't been able to view car yet due to distance away), is this possible, could they be misinterpreting what the car has (or maybe it's there but doesn't work).

My wife's 53-plate 2.51 definitely has aircon.
A simple photo of the controls on the dash should clear it up for you I would have thought?

Climate control varies its output according to the temperature in the cabin, basic AC won’t do this

Anyway, only relevant if you're buying a coupe.
With the roof down on a proper Z the aircon isn't effective enough to worry about :D

Many thanks for all your replies so far, unfortunately Seller has not included photo details of the panel in that area. Main question is - was some form of basic A/Con included in the basic (non-optional) spec for all Z4s between 2003 and 2008, according to some of the independent Car Reviews it was. Puzzled as to why Seller doesn't believe it's installed in their car if it was a standard inclusion by BMW.

Well I've just dug out the handbook for wifey's and it does seem there were three options: Aircon, Climate control, or nowt.
Here's a quick photo of the aircon page, which notes that some buttons are used differently if no aircon is fitted.
So I guess the seller may be correct? A photo would solve it.

Many thanks for the handbook confirmation, I guess the picture answers the question, A/C was not a standard offering but an optional extra, the Seller is therefore probably correct. I like the earlier contribution to this thread in that, if the weather is hot enough, you shouldn't need A/C, the top should already be down.

nah you need AC all the time...

for 10 months of the year i use the AC to keep the condensation levels down, and to help demist the car in the mornings. only 2 months of the year or so do i actually use the AC to cool the car down. i found the z4 particularly bad for condensation - the fabric roof doesnt keep all the water out, and cabin interior is open to the boot as well, so any moisture in there steams the car up as well.

Agreed, the earlier comment was somewhat tongue in cheek.
I think wifey's has the automatic air conditioning option which is the top option as far as I can make out. Definitely useful for clearing the screen, even if the roof does come straight down.

As far as I can remember from looking for my first z years ago, they all have done form of a/c.
Not seen one without.
As smartbear says,Basic AC doesn't self adjust, but you manually change temp, but it still had an AC unit for heating and cooling.
Climatronuc or Climate control automatically adjusts the AC to keep a set temperature.

Hopefully this helps op.

Many thanks to all of you for your input. Have arranged to see the car tomorrow so will know definitely one way or the other whether it was worth the long drive.

Be interesting to hear the outcome, as the manual seems to be clear that it was possible not to have AC ?
