dodgy startup

My car made a god awful sound thismorning when starting up. it has been sat for a few days and its damn cold so it may be nothing but i parked badly so had to restart it when i got to work and it was warmed up by them and still made a crappy sound.

its was very raspy/rattly and only while it fired up. it started fine 2/3 turns over then fires up.

prob nothing to worry about but at the moment i want to keep right on top of this car and keep it in the good condition its in.

i think i may be worrying about nothing, it could just be the right noise for the tappets on the 3.0Li engine. oil level is fine and it doesnt last.

is there anything i ought to clean as a precaution?

My 3.0 also makes a tappy/rattle for maybe 2 seconds if it's been stood for a few days (which it often is), I can only assume the oil drains out the hydraulic lifters.

cold temps don,t do much for motors so wouldn't be flapping too much about the 1 or 2 second tappy rattles .
just as long as you have regular oil changes ( 12months or 8k whichever comes first for me ) with quality oil all should be well
