Fingers crossed I've managed to solve this issue by simply replacing my car battery. Up until a few months ago I used the Zed as a daily driver and it never missed a beat. My job allows me to work from home, so I took advantage and began using the car less - maybe once every 3 days or so. That's when my issues started.
After being sat for a few days the car would be quite lumpy on start-up and a couple of warning lights would appear. Switch the car off, then turn back on again and all would be fine. Whenever the car was left for a period of time this would always happen. After a quick search on here I noticed someone else with similar symptoms, the first bit of advice from a more experience Zed member was to check the battery for low voltage - unbeknown to me, a dodgy battery can cause all sorts of electrical gremlins.
So I've just changed the battery and deliberately left the Zed for a few days unused... went for a drive today and bingo, started up fine!
Hopefully it was a case of needing a new battery, the car certainly feels like it has loads more energy on start-up. As a treat, the Zed has been given a fresh set of new plates and a buff up of the headlights. Surprising how a couple of simple things can really lift the ageing look of a car
