Dodgy glovebox catch

The glovebox catch on my coupe doesn't work well. You have to slam the thing shut a few times before it finally catches.
On my E30 I had a similar problem, which after a couple of months led to a broken catch. It broke with the box closed, so was a big faff to open it before replacing the catch.
Is this normal for a Z4, or should I just replace the catch before something nasty happens ?
Thanks

The catch on mine sounds like it's similar to yours.

Instead of slamming it, try pushing it closed, then push a little harder. It seems to click closed without having to slam it. Maybe just the design?

Mine is the same, works best with a firm shut with your hand where the catch is as if it's not it usually doesn't close.

From memory it's adjustable? A bit like your bonnet and boot catches, I think it can be moved up and down so it aligns.

I also found the pneumatic strut fails so replaced that and it made a world of difference.

The catch on the lid isn't really adjustable but the hook attached to the dash is. If you move it inwards then the glovebox catches more easily. I did mine this morning and need to drive it on the way home to check I haven't made it too loose so that it rattles. Very easy to play with as it's just two screws.
