Dodgy alarm

My alarm goes off a lot, like a LOT!

How do I work out whats causing it? Bonnet sensor seems most likely, but how do I check? It happens when cold, windy and normal weather! :headbang:

Thanks

bonnet sensor is only like £8 pounds and is doddle to change yourself. worth a shot?

Mine was doing the same, dropped in a new bonnet sensor and problem solved.

Locking the car with the key in the door doesnt activate the alarm which is a good temporary solution until you get it fixed

Yeah, was thinking most likely bonnet, but wonder why it happens when it does, so I can isolate it.

If i unplug the sensor, will it still allow the alarm to activate without setting it off?

I could not pin down any set of circumstances which set it off... just started intermittently and got worse - to the point where the neighbours said to me 'do you know your alarm has been going off all day' by which point Id already ordered a new sensor to try.

no idea if unplugging the sensor would work - my guess would be no 'cos it would leave an open circuit but just a guess - someone more knowledgeable will be along in a mo...

I think the 3am wake up calls will start to annoy my neighbours soon

mine was the same, £8 from dealer and all has been good since..doddle to swap. even for me.

my alarm has been going off a hell of alot recently. im guessing it is the bonnet sensor. is that the bit between the firewall struts that pushes down when the bonnet is closed?
