Dodging potholes!

Seem to be spending most of my time dodging potholes or poor road surfaces on my journeys nowadays! Is it just me or is anyone else having the same problem? :x also just notice my exhaust seems to have a slight rattle now :headbang:

I'm the same as Edinburgh is pot hole central, I end up weaving all over the road avoiding the dam things. Drivers behind me must think I am drunk

Exhaust rattle could be caused by the heat shield, mine sometimes requires repositioning and re tightening

I started reporting them now online, amazing but every one I report is fixed in two days

Which site are you using? The one posted the other day (cycle safety site I think) seems to have reports dating 2011 and nit a lot recent, at least not in this area

Yes, that was the one I used. Get a confirmation email in minutes, report confirmation in hours and within a day there is some spray paint around the holes and a fix in a few days later.

The last reported one was so big that someone put a traffic cone in the middle of the road which disappeared almost in it.

You are not alone. I'm constantly avoiding them. I'm surrounded by B roads where I live and all but one are badly potholed. I've looked in the rear view mirror when swerving around them and people certainly give you funny looks. Most people won't understand why in their comfy SUV's but as most will know it's a necessity in our cars if you want to look after the suspension components. I usually find sitting in the middle of the road the best line (obviously when safe to do so). Most potholes seem to appear on the normal tyre line so straddling both lanes usually pays off. Unless the plod see you!

Yes, it really does p***s me off also. When you consider how much we all pay in road tax. :headbang:

Yer hopefully, got to get it up on a ramp and have a good look. It rattles when you wobble the tail pipes by hand!

Cheers

yeah always doing it. i dont have enough time in the day to report every pot hole and it wont let you enter a whole road.

Yes, same here in the lovely north of our sceptred isle, where potholes are breeding very successfully thank you. I was out for a joy drive just yesterday and thought to myself they're getting worse and far more widespread. It upsets me more every time I pay the road tax on two cars and the bike.

URL please :). These guys are useless in my area! http://www.fillthathole.org.uk :(

Considering I can hit speeds of 50mph down a 3% descent on some of my HPVs pot-holes are a real issue rather than just a minor annoyance.

i reported that 1 that broke my rear shock on monday.... and it was filled in yesterday.... still waiting to hear back from the council tho....

I pay £1,000 in road tax (Zed + Discovery). I should get my own personal pot hole repairer for that!

PVR - if you've reported all of the pot holes in your neck of the woods, there's plenty of opportunities to further your good work round here!
:D

The URL you linked is the one he is on about :) (99.9% sure anyway)

Having just had a incident with a pothole I can certainly say some of the roads are awful round here. The council did repair it quickly though once I reported it to them.
