Do Z4 owners wave

I agree, Something to do with the Badge maybe? Or the lack of enthusiasm others have with their cars.
Suggestion maybe? A lot of my friends are members of the Goodwood Festival of Speed Club and have a round badge same size as the car tax badges displayed on the front screen. Now if the Z4 Forum had a badge displayed with a bright coloured ring around (Orange, Red etc) it we would be able to decipher the true Z4 appreciation society coming towards us instead of squinting to find the Z4 sticker :driving:

Top-down roadster drivers are usually happy to acknowledge a wave or a nod around here, whether it's a Zed or an M5 or a Mini cabriolet, or whatever. Doesn't happen nearly as much if yer top's up though.

I very rarely meet other Zeds... I see some parked now and then, but that is it. I have never even seen a coupe irl before...

Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever seen a coupe on the road either. See quite a few regular Z4s and Z3s though.

One day at the home center (large hardware store + supermarket type place ... not sure what you'd call it in the UK) I came out to find an almost identical sterling-grey E85 parked right next to mine, in a sprawling parking lot. I figured it had to have been deliberate, so I waited for the guy to come out of the store and we had a nice chat. There's definitely a bit of a "togetherness" vibe.

I was recently waived at frantically by a lady driving a black Smart roadster. Not sure if she was shortsighted and thought I was in a Smart, or just pleased to see another black roadster with the top down in our, very rural, part of France.
Bike riders over here usually acknowledge me when on my Dakar, with a slight nod or the customary foot out.
Scorp.

I always thought it was obligatory to offer a hand up to someone driving the same kind of sports car to you.

I have always done this in my spitfire, MGF, Chimera, XK8 and the roadster. They have to be same model tho - sorry coupe drivers, I don't see them as the same - no creaks, leaks or whistles!

Lots of great replies, thanks folks. I will continue to put the subtle hands up to z4's. But apparently there are only 400 taxed coupes in the UK (read it here on the forum) - so slim chance of seeing a similar on my commute.

But here's the classic:

Pulled up at the toll booth at the bridge yesterday and the guy says,

"That's a lovely car, sir"

Well, hell  :driving: :P

I don't think he was after anything by the way

I had a wave from a Z4 the other day. Out round the country lanes, we both had to roofs down. I waved back 8)

I think you're more likely to get a wave on a weekend, cars are clean, roofs down and both drivers are out for fun, rather than commuting.

If I see I wave, I don't ignore otherZ drivers but sometimes I am just too dozy to respond in time. No offence was meant. Sorry.

i waved at a guy on the m42 the other day :) and the guy in the petrol station in frodsham who waved back.... i guess he had to tho as he was at the pump next to me

swmbo things im mad and just doesnt get it.

I wave/flash my lights even if i'm not in my Z4. I bet many a z4 driver around here is quite confused at being waved to by someone in a ford mondeo...

If i see another E89 ill flash or if parking and i see one in the car park , park next to it. If I see a E85 / E86 ill flash, ( not one wave or flash in return )

I flash or give a little wave to E85s and E86s (when I see them).

Tried it with a couple of E89s with absolutely zero response from the drivers (who possibly didn't even know they were in a Z4) so I've not bothered since.

I also ride a bike and it's a similar mixed bag.
Out on my road bike in full club kit and every other roady waves.

If I'm on my MTB and try the same I might as well be invisible as the snobbery that exists means I'm then "not a proper cyclist". The best fun I can then have is turn round and say "morning" as I breeze past them on a "wheeled gate"! Priceless!
Although in the spirit of maintaining a BBC type balance, I have to say occasional roadies say "Hi" but it's as rare as seeing another coupe :D

that exists everywhere.

when im out in the westy anyone with a classic, kit or 7 gets a wave and they usually wave back. its that knowing look of "i built this fucking thing and im going to damn well drive it wheather it wants to run on 3 cylinders or not" :D

usually you always get a wave and a smile. the only exception, and i dont think this relates to ALL owners but it seems like that is when you see a Caterham. Those guys seem to actively avoid the other owners and look down thir noses at you. .... its something to do with hertiage apparently :poke:

I waved at this blonde girl driving a pink Z4 E85 on the M6 the other day.
She prob thought I was a weirdo and totally ignored me.

Had an E89 follow me today while I was driving mine - we pulled up at a set of lights, myself in the right-hand lane, she in the left. Side by side and she didn't even glance my way... Pfft to her

No one has ever waved or flashed at me  I don't find the average Z4 driver particularly friendly.
As a Biker with a Harley and a sports bike, I have found that each little niche' of car and bike clubs can have unsociable or clicky people in them. If I'm on the Harley some sports bike riders will ignore my nod and vice-versa on the Harley. So I suppose that may be true of certain roadster and coupe drivers? It doesn't matter really. I'm sure the majority of forum members would acknowledge each other, but how could you tell?

I flash and wave at every z4 i pass. I see two regularly around where i live and on my commute and never get a response. At the end of the day i dont really car, i love my car, and all that it is, and thats my way of showing it. I dont mind them not waving back as im used to it, i ride a motorbike aswell and only 30% of riders actually acknowledge me. Cant see anyone getting into trouble for flashing anyone so im gonna keep flashing a waving :P

I always flash and wave as other Z4's fly past. I tried it with an M3 the other day and the guy flipped me the birdie, cheeky git!
