I was thinking about this kind of thing last night - I was waiting for a bus and two guys were leaning against a parked taxi (one was virtually sitting on the bonnet) and I thought "what would I do if I came back to my Z and found someone doing that?". Neither of them was the taxi driver btw - they both got on my bus I'd have been furious, but what do you do? It only takes a second for someone to kick a panel or a mirror, and then you end up even worse off.

It only takes a second for someone to kick a panel or a mirror, and then you end up even worse off.Funnily enough ... yesterday afternoon i was in the big smoke of aberdeen and someone had parked an Audi A8 over three parking bays in a crowded city centre car park - he was not the most popular bloke on the car park and i was kind of hoping he was going to get a ticket for it .... and i like cars and understand people's concerns. I think the general public who are not into cars see this behaviour as being seriously uncool.
Supermarkets are a bit different if it is not the 24th December
The sad fact is that any car used every day will pick up a few little dings and chips during its lifetime .
I just tend to find the outer reaches of car parks and park there (the top of one of aberdeen's multi stories is full of TT's , Boxsters and the like all parked one apart).

For what it's worth I think parking like that is asking for trouble. I too have parked in the middle of nowhere only for some pikey shed to be parked next to me when I return. Just life I'm afraid.

I actually wonder if this is just people being typically British, see a queue and join in an orderly fashion.
It is a bit nobish, but they have left a respectable gap! I do find that it depends where you park - in somewhere like Tesco I park way over the other side from every other swine, safe in the knowledge the lazy gits won't bother walking that far. Also, if someone is choosing to park next to me because they know I won't bash their car I feel safe in the knowledge that they will behave similarly.
PawnSacrifice, I've had that happen to me all over the place, more likely when I'm in the Z4 rather than the Micra.
I think that when people see a nice car, they park right next to it in the hope that a car thief or vandal will be drawn to the other one rather than theirs.
