Just came from the Dallas Auto Show. Got to sit in and really examine the new Z4. I found the overall look to be quite beautiful, very much like the current Z4, but refined and beautified, especially in the rear. 8) Oddly, the front end turns me off a bit. The hood looks like it's 12 feet long, an illusion heightened all the more by the V-shaped "styling lines" running down the hood. :( The interior is decidedly upscale compared to the current Z4. In fact, the whole car appears to be refined style-wise a couple of notches, sharing a more "BMW" look and feel (and price point) with the rest of the BMW line, and there are several styling cues that (to me anyway) are reminiscent of the Z8.

However, for me, as for others of you who have mentioned this, it has now completely lost any "sports car" feel, and it now seems to be more of a boulevard cruiser than a sports car. In my mind, I can hear a Jeremy Clarkson voice going on about how only "poofs" would drive one of these new Z4's, on their way to the local Starbuck's.

Sorry to say, but although I can appreciate the car for what it is, I'd have to pass on it, because of what it isn't.
I'd be hard pressed to spend $50K-$60K on one, especially when I can get a fully-optioned 2008 M3 coupe with less than 4K miles for only $54K  or a 2006 loaded M3 convertible with less than 20K miles for $33K.
