Driving on the M4 between Reading and Cardiff on Thursday, in the torrential rain, I started to think about dry lines and when I could go that little bit quicker...
..Any one else think about dry lines and how much grip they may (or may not) have?

We're all awesome drivers that F1 has managed to miss :roll:

Actually I always thought I was pretty good, and then I drove a few laps around a racetrack in an M3 and realised not only just how hard it is to drive proper lines, but also just how average a driver I really am! Not that I'm a bad driver, I'm just not the next Sebastian Vettel ;)
 
Nope!! I can honestly say when I'm out in the car those thoughts never enter my mind, when out on the bike on the other hand.
 
We all think we're driving gods, until you sit beside a racing driver who knows his stuff.having been wazzed round several tracks by some very talented drivers ( Jackie Stewart,Sterling Moss, Alain Prost) you realise that most drivers are decidedly average and these guys can really drive.Very humbling I can tell you. :driving:
 
I sat for nearly 20 years watching 2 wheel racing thinking "i could do that", "i could win that" - straight in, licence, circuit, "watch this fu**ker go" - what happened ?Lapped :rofl: 10 years later after much improvement i entered a race in Magny Cours in which Phil Read (8 times world champion)was racing, me being about 30 years younger than him, i thought i could learn the circuit by tagging on his pipes, off we set, long straight, hair pin, short straight, chicane - "wheres he gone???" :oops: :oops:

there's always someone who's faster and better than you but i've never lost the "i could do that" :thumbsup:
 
In my own car on the road, the thought never crosses my mind!

If I was on track, in an F1 race, I'd like to think I was the Senna/Schumacher who was making themselves their own dry-line while under safety car/yellow flags!
 
:P Putting it simply for you lesser beings out there....I AM BETTER THAN BUTTON... :P
