Do we have REAR FOG lights?

I find that the arrangement with my front fog lights is nearly useless. In this part of Canada, we have daytime running lights. On my car, they are fairly bright halogens (not my outside zenons). If I want my fog lights on, either the zenons need to be on, or the parking lights with the daytime running lights. In that configuration, the daytime running lights are so bright and forward-pointing, that they would cause too much glare from fog/snow, etc. So long as the car has well-focused zenons, I think that fog lights are useless. (IMHO). :driving:

This concludes my comment for the day.

Don't attribute that quote to me. You won't find me using all caps for one thing, and for another, I didn't type it.

I actually was quoting BlackSapphireZ but somehow your username became the source of the quote. My apologies and I've corrected the source of the quote. :)

I just noticed leatherz.com has the Euro light switch module that adds the rear fog lights to North American versions of the cars. The module says it's only for the E90-E92 3-series, but it sure looks similar to the Z4 switch. If it's not the same one maybe Leatherz will add that switch soon. 60 dollars isn't too bad either, especially considering we get a lot of fog here in the spring and fall.

E9X Euro Headlight Switch (Adds Rear Foglights):

It's not a LeatherZ product, but rather an OEM that's available to be ordered. IIRC, wrh3 successfully did this to his 3er a while back (direct plug-and-play).

And its only one rear lamp (right side I believe) that contains a fog light here in UK.... so it looks a bit odd anyway with just one side lit up!

You could buy the switch face plate for the Z4, however the US cars (at least the early ones) need their computer reprogrammed and apparently some wires added under the dash from the switch to the fuse box etc and then the wire for the reverse light bulb, on the side converted to fog light, moved or changed. Keep in mind our Z4 uses a CAN-BUS system so simply adding lights etc can cause faults.

Out of necessity I found a way to add a rear fog light for less than $50 on my 03’. There was no need to reprogram the car's computer and there are no light-bulb fault codes. It did involve adding some wiring from the rear of the car to the front (single wire, which I ran along side of the battery cable), which was time consuming yet it is not noticeable when done right.

I wouldn't have done this if it wasn't required by regulation in the UK. I plan on posting the full details with a few pics in the How To section within a few weeks or so (just so busy at the moment).
