Do people need to steal valve caps!

This morning I went to check air pressure of my Z. Since they are the locking type with the BMW logo, I had to unlock them and checked the pressure. Did not think much about it at that time and went for my daily training session, after which you can assume what happened from the title... and it's not like I was in a crazy area!

Nothing that bad (already ordered new ones), but the thought of someone checking it out so close!

Had exactly the same.. Left it in a BMW dealer car park while buying some accessories. Came out and noticed marks on the wheels.. No caps, gone.

Bought black plastic to put back on. Some people are so desperate for silly things...

Dealer tried to "steal" 2 of mine, luckily I noticed before driving away and after a 15 minute wait they were replaced.

Have metal ones on mine, they are always going missing. Haven't bothered with locking ones as I'm sure they would just snap them off (and break the valves at the same time)

Ive had 2 sets robbed, now i just have plain anodized black aluminium caps they seem to be less ooo i want those , some people ! to make themselves a thief for a few quid , my good name is worth more than a few million but i guess some people are brought up different , ah well great society we live in !

Had this on previous cars - mostly it is kids I think. Who I believe enjoy using them on their bikes or scooters. Pathetic :(

Had this happen in Skipton! Never in Liverpool though! lol... Just use black plastic ones now.

If you put BMW or 'M' dust caps on your wheels you're asking for them to be nicked. :( Draws too much attention to your car.

i used to collect 'dusties' when i was 10-12ish. never got anything fancy as i normaly took them off lorries at the newport pagnell service station  now i get pissed when someone takes mine but i remember the draw as it was a kind of trading card thing on the playground

Sad but true :(

I've never had a pair stolen, and I've had the metal ones on my last couple of cars. I did leave mine on top of the air machine when I checked my tyre pressures at the weekend though! They were gone when I passed again later in the day though. I'll have to order some more actually.

Must be in a recession. Think two of my black plastic caps were nicked.

It's not widely known, but the actual definition of a recession is "2 quarters of negative growth and an increase in theft of plastic dust caps". Fact.

In my poorer days, I actually had some SKODA ones nicked!

now an afficianado of black plastic, makes the rest of the car look so much more expensive!

Locking dust caps are a new one to me but they still got nicked I have black plastic ones and they are still there.
