Currently I have an E85 3.0.. A real beauty, black with red leather, fully loaded CSL alloys..
My question is buy the Z4M which I would want in the same colours or put the m body on mine or finally buy the M3!

Just hoped for some opinions/views maybe people who have owned an m3 etc

Cheers guys

Not worth spending more money on your 3.0i. If you still like roadster, then buy Z4MR. But you want something difference/space, then buy M3 E46. Both Z4M and M3 are ver fast car (and thirsty), but provide different driving experience.

If I had the E85 roadster and wanted a change, I would get the M3.

I had a Z3, went to an M3 (2005 ragtop) , went back to a new Z4. The M3 was a wild car to play in, went really fast, cornered like a scared rabbit and had a backseat and useable trunk. Service costs were double (ouch) tires seemed to fly off it every year ( more ouch) and to the untrained eye it looked like every other E46 on the road (this is a good thing if you want to blend into the traffic when the police are looking). An M coupe or roadster is going to have higher running costs (like the M3) and no backseat etc , and is highly visible..... I think if it was me in your shoes I'd get an M3 providing it was an amazing colour and in really good nick, that way it would still be valuable if you decide otherwise at a later date....

An M3 is like a Vegas Showgirl,...Everyone should have one at least once...

Definitely an M3, what's the point in getting the same car with a different engine? Should have got the M the first time though :poke: when will people learn

MR every time m3 to old hat and blends into the background, mayb even a lil chavy now. Get an m roadster in a different colour combination and you'll not look back!

Hi,

I have a 3.0 Z4. I have driven the E46 m3 and other faster cars. The E46 M3 is quicker obviously but not greatly.

I would go for a Z4M or the latest M3 :)

I dont think the M3 is a massive difference in speed at all. Yes they are faster, but not by much. And the extra 1k a year on insurance puts me off :D Lovely cars, but too many dogs now, even of the E46's. Although find a nice one in a decent colour and they are brilliant!

I was going to get an M3 before the Z4, but opted for the Z4 as wanted something a bit different, and that i dont see 3 of every day driving home

Maybe fuel costs would be slightly less, but doubt by much. Think the M3 is 24mpg average, well thats what my mate gets out of his, and thats distance runs

Service costs would be abot the same, as its the same engine etc. And BMW service dept love M's
