Do I have too many Toys

My own particular vice, in terms of realistically or actual superfluous toys is audio related. Specifically tube headphone amps and matched headphones. Just google 'Audeze headphones' and you'll get an idea of the cost of these beasties. I have 4 pairs now and I still struggle to justify them and all the other various amps and equipment to both myself and bemused friends. I'm postponing totting up how much I've spent over the years on that stuff but i know absolutely it's more than I've spent on cars and associated running costs.
Why do we do it?
Maybe having no kids, wife and a paid-off mortgage facilitates the opportunity to indulge, but it's hardly justification!

that is crazy! I have some beats solo2 wireless @ £269 and thought that was to much hahaha

Lol synthedup. I know. I know.
And ur tag has reminded me of something else - my collection of 80's vintage analogue synthesizers: roland sh-101 (x2), jupiter 8, juno 6, juno 106, jx-3p, oberheim obxa, moog monophonic, plus various cv-gate drum machines and sequencers. But my one mitigation for that lot is that i bought them all for much less back in the 80's than theyre prob worth now. They sit in a little studio room at the top of the house, covered, collecting dust. Prob all out of tune now too. Really ought to get rid. If anyone's interested i'm open to offers, drop me a line......

I believe there is a proven scientific formula for the correct amount of toys a man should have and it is n+1, n being the amount currently owned...I'm no mathematician but it seems about right to me :D

You can never have enough toys, and as long as you can afford it i don't see the problem: life is too short and you can't take it with you can you?

+1 on the n+1 rule

Please excuse the man maths here:
Some people pi$$ all their hard earned money up the wall! at least you have some assets; yes they depreciate but they are also fun and you can't always put a value on that. Interest rates are way below inflation so cash in the bank is depreciating; so stick it into an investment (lifestyle or financial or do both and everyone is a winner)

I'm ploughing money into house improvements for the next 12 months (that keeps her 'happy' and makes longer term financial sense) and then i can have my toys too without too much arguing providing I can make the books balance - it'll be tight but with the aid of man maths I will find a way.

Toys:
6 bikes, Z4, Golf R: the Golf goes next year and I fancy a waftamatic (s8 or XFR)

bike number 7 coming in a couple months (C2W scheme) - flat bar gravel bike (not decided which one yet) - i'll then relegate 1 to a pub bike: tried to convince her that this leaves me in a net position

the +1 toy is a decision is between a classic and a motorbike leaning towards the MB and eyeing up a Vrod or a thunderbird and going custom, purely because at 38 i'm having a mid life crisis and haven't got the time to pour into a classic.

The alternatives:
younger women (notice the plural - i was always a dreamer)... the toys are cheaper and less likely to get you into trouble... ok, just different types of trouble!! NB. I don't recommend suggesting the alternative as a justification to having more toys btw that conversation is unlikely to end well. Is she suggesting you do something else other than buy toys - can you find a way for her to enjoy the toys too (unless the toys are your escape  )
