I’m now in a real quandary :( :( :(

I’m feeling it “might” be time to move on. I don’t know!!!

Love the Zed but starting to feel I need a different buzz :? Entry level Porsche ain’t ticking any boxes which I’m gutted about :(

So, I keep coming back to the E31s. Always loved the looks, the performance is just a bonus to me

So out of the blue I guy messaged me today offering the below in some kind of swap/ cash deal. No figures have been mentioned but it’s got my head spinning.

I know nothing of these cars so any info would be greatly appreciated :D

Or someone give me a virtual slap and I’ll stick with the Zed and enjoy it!

Brian, how close are you to The Broads?
You’re going to need somewhere to moor that!

How deep are your pockets for maintenance? Don't forget that all the parts will either be old-new stock that someone has stored for 20 years, aftermarket items, or really expensive BMW Mobile Tradition / BMW Group Classic only parts. Some consumables (e.g. brake discs) are common to other models to fairly inexpensive, but an e31-only caliper may be as much as £750.

I bottled out on an 850CSi when I had the chance, and my pockets are glad I did, as I found out that they were more expensive to run as a similar-age e34 M5 (which I've worked out cost twice as much as a Z4M to run)...and were heavier & slower...but it was meant more as a grand tourer anyway.

BTW, it looks lake a late 840Ci (or is it something else)? The M70 v5.0 v12 850i/Ci doesn't have much more power than the M60 4.0 v8 840i/Ci, but the later M73 v12 (not the S70 CSi) adds a nice chunk of power/torque above the later M62 4.4 V8.

Don't expect anything much above 20mpg on a motorway cruise though.

Depends really on what is causing the itch?
Is it for something different, for more power, or because you've run out of things to do on yours.
Have you considered sticking with the zeds but trading up to a bigger engine, maybe even an M?
That car of yours has carried you through some tough times. I think if you sell it then it needs to go a long way away where you'll never see it and worry about it.

Looks fabulous. How about keeping both? One being a lightfooted roadster, the other one being a decently powerful GT makes a good contrast you can hop between any day. Or, as both cars are pretty old now, at least there’s a some chance that the other one is running while the other receives TLC.

Don’t know what’s causing the itch, I just spend more and more time looking at Auto Trader :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

I feel if I traded up for a M it’s just the same experience with a lot more power. Same applies to a Coupe  and I’ve looked at them enough times

Good point if I sell it. This guy is in Devon so............

It’s a 840ci V8

Maybe you need a clutch of my remapped E89? :poke: :D

Thank f**k it’s not heart trouble you’ve got as the running costs of that compared to a 2.0 Z4 would definitely test it to its limits

Lovely looking car right enough :D

Oh yes, I had a 740 with that engine. Lovely, without a doubt but I had it when new and cost me next to nothing in the 7 years I had it (besides depreciation …)

Chatting with Jingle about it he commented about garaging it. I don’t, nor have the room for a garage, so I guess it’s game over. Head 60 Heart 40: :(

Lovely car but I’d be surprised if you could daily one now a days, more of a show/weekend/holiday blast type of beast now.
