Do all 108's need refurbing!

The laquer is coming off my 108's on a 5 year old 3.0Si and after reading so many posts on here it seems like almost everyone is having their's refurbed. Surely an Alloy wheel if made properly should last more than 5 years with out having to spend upto £500 "all round" to reapir....

Has BMW ever commented on this?
 
Sadly BMW refuse to acknowledge the poor design. It's a common problem on split rim wheels that are diamond cut. Lacquer simply doesnt stick well to a polished/clean cut rim.

Sadly, a refurb is the only way to get them looking fresh again. there are a few DIY threads on here. Providing your rims are not curbed, they should come up really well with a DIY refurb
