DMS 'Upgrade' anyone done it?

Noticed on their website they list the Z4M. State an increase to 370bhp and torque up 12 to 281. Imply inprovement in fuel economy too.

Has anyone had this done? Is it worthwhile / noticeable? I'm waiting for a quote form them to get a price. I suppose if its a few hundred quid might be worth it?

I'll be honest - know nothing about them, or whether it's true.

I find it highly unlikely that those figures will be achieved. If it was that easy, BMW would have done it. They don't spend millions on R&D to leave easy gaps like this.

Only my tuppence worth. Happy to be proved wrong....

I would have to agree :)

Sorry, but I disagree.

Some of the gains that DMS and others can get is unreal on some engines.

The 1M can now be tweaked to 402bhp (60+ bhp increase) - so surely your feeling that BMW would have done it is not correct.

Manufacturers have lower emission tolerances and other parameters to meet (that after market tuners won't have obviously) and sometimes this can limit performance.

In the 1Ms case I'd say it was de-tuned so as not to appear too close to E90 M3 bhp levels.

Let us know what you are quoted please, if you can. Evo magazine always speak highly of DMS in their write-ups.

Just my 2ps worth!

I would say the gains on turbo engines are fairly plausible, but 370bhp on a Z4M just by remapping - no chance.

Many folk on M3cutters remap their E46 M3s. The most respected tuner they use talk of an extra 20bhp max from their map. I've not heard of anyone offering over that. A standard healthy M3 generally makes 330bhp on their rolling road by the way, they've never had one make the claimed 343bhp.

Very dubious of such claims.

Look at all the extra work on the s54 in csl guise for 355bhp. It's not just a simple remap/chip

As for turbo engines. They are far more tweakable.

370bhp on remap alone? So they are claiming with no other work (intake/manifold/exhaust) that they can get 115bhp per litre on a naturally aspirated engine? Hilarious.

I'd be very cautious

Reading this thread, I was going to write essentially this. The E46 M3 CSL is the best evidence of the expense and effort required to gain any meaningful increase in power/torque from the S54. As has been said, FI engines can be tweaked much more easily.

M@r]{, search on here for Z4MCSL and read what he has done to make similar power gains. Good luck with the car search
