DME Version

I'm trying to find out what's the last version of the Euro DME software for the roadster. Has anyone had their software updated and can share what version their DME is? Or does anyone have a late 2008 and know what version they have? Thanks

I had my ECU flashed to the latest software about a month ago. Let me look into it later.

Hope this helps.

It's the only DME related piece of paper i had from my mechanic's last service. If there's a way to see on the onboard computer of the car's itself let me know and i'll check.

Thank you very much for posting, your version is 7840461. Which corresponds to the the value in bmwfans.info.

Looks like the roadster might have a different number. Which is surprising as the mechanical parts should be 100% the same (the only difference i think is in the sway bars between coupe and roadster).

For the roadster possible values are 7840449, 7840457, 7840459.

No way to know, as BMW doesn't publish errata or change logs between versions. I figure why not get the latest software though, especially when all software has bugs.

It'd be nice to know the differences if anyone has had the software put on and noticed any difference?

Years ago BMW flashed my dads E46 M3 with the latest software and after it wasn't as aggressive on the throttle after?!

The only way to check the version is with a code reader.

The reason I started this quest is to try to find a solution to the problem that has been described here and over on zpost, where after driving the car aggressively the revs will drop at the next stop light. Seemed like a classic software bug, especially as it has happened to lots of people.

I would be careful about flashing to the latest version. If your car runs fine, leave well alone. I've heard of throttle response issues on 135's after BMW flashed them to work around a common problem on some of the earlier cars and think someone else in this thread has mentioned a similar experience with S54.

Bump to see if anyone has updated their euro roadster to verify that 7840449 is in fact the latest and greatest. Thanks to ga41 we know the latest euro coupe dme software version is 7840461.
