Apologies, I have searched the E85 problem forum for this info but couldn’t find anything. I have a poorly DME (2869 - DME self test RAM check faulty). Basically car won’t start, just get a click as if the starter is dead. Added new starter, replaced the faulty LCM (just in case), and a new battery but it’s still the same so it’s looking like my DME.
My first question is do you folks know of a recommended test/repair service provider for my DME (2004 E85 2.2l)? I have also acquired a second DME from a breakers, which has exactly the same part number as mine but is off a 2.5l (E83) petrol. I assume these will be mapped differently? Question 2; Are there folks out there who clone DMEs and is this easier than going for the repair option? I am guessing if I can keep my original vehicle data this will make life easier ie avoiding any organ transplant rejection issues?
I have spoken to an outfit I found online who said they will look at the DME model I have but this is on a case by case basis as they cannot always fault find them. So looking for a experience fixer if there is one?
As always, and help would be appreciated.
