FOR SALE :: DLV modified backbox

This was fitted to my E86 3.0 Si

Once fitted, it looks completely standard, but the exhaust note is deeper, louder and it pops and burbles 👌

It's been cleaned up for the new owner, so you'll get the satisfaction of fitting something nice and shiny ✨

📍 Located in Islington, London, N1. This is just outside the congestion charge zone. I also travel down to Guildford every few weeks.

📦 I'm happy to arrange shipping - at cost.

💰 £200 - I believe DLV is doing these for about £250 (and other places quote around £350). With DLV you'll have to hand over your existing exhaust - here you get to keep it / sell it.

Would this fit an earlier 3.0i Z4 (2004) without modification?

If so I'd be very interested in taking this.

What's actually been done to it? as I remember reading a DLV post and seeing quite a few different options resulting in different levels of noise.

Hi, do you know what type of internal pipes are used for the modification?

Sorry, I'm not sure what type of surgery it's had done. It was on the car when I bought it.

I'm unsure which vehicles it will fit. Hopefully some of the forum gurus will be able to help answer that.

I believe the M54 and N52 exhaust systems are different… but not 100% sure that the rear box itself
is actually different.

I'll try and figure out if it'll fit ok. But very interested if it does. Don't suppose you have any video clips of this. I've searched DLV backbox mods, but as stated above not sure if they're all the same.

I think the mounts are different, I’ve heard of an n52 back box used on a pre fl car but the mounts on the car had to be extended.

Im sure it does sound musical , I only say that as it looks like Stevie Wonder welded it.

But getting to keep your own to swap back is a huge bonus.

Seems @Smartbear is right, the mountings are slightly different so they sit at different levels. The pipe into the rear of the box is possibly a different angle too.

So sounds like it's going to need quite a bit of work to make it fit my 3.0i, Not impossible, but I can't weld (if needed), so would be further cost on top.

You caould have them made louder or quiet, I just went for the standard, sounds like this:

I could be interested in this. I'll need to check the cut on mine before committing (mine has an all through job on it that I really don't like). Will have a look tomorrow.

Time for me to trot out my video again

I can thoroughly recommend this exhaust I have had it on my car for several years at this stage and it still makes me smile, hearing the car sing without the awful dampening of the standard system  great to her that lovely straight 6 noise

Its worth noting that I requested a more "raw" note on mine so this is louder, more burbly and poppy than the "normal" DLV backbox. Regardless when cruising at 70 the car doesnt drone and it is still perfectly civilised until you get on it :driving:

In terms of connecting it I would STRONGLY recommend taking it to a local exhaust place and having them weld it on, I had to do this after the clamps I had supplied with it completely corroded and failed. The guy took £30 iirc  its been absolutely fine since

You had this particular back box fitted to your car?

Or made the same modification to your own box?

Is this to me?
If so yes I have a DLV box on my car though I requested a more raw version of the DLV box
