DLV exhaust

I've had my coupe a few years now, and it's time to get a bit more from the exhaust. From reading various threads and watching numerous YouTube vids I've decided the DLV style modification is the way to go. However, I'm not sure DLV still does this (or even frequents this website now), and there's no chance I'd attempt it myself. So, has anyone in the South (Hampshire) had this done, and if so, who did it?

He's still doing them afaik, had my e89 done about 8 months ago..there was another guy on the wirral doing them also some kind of welder/fabrictor but can't remember which thread it was in, I f you do a search you may come up with something

As there have been a few 'issues' with this gentleman and the forum I don't think it would be acceptable for me to directly promote him in any way on here.
However, he works on Zeds, in a Shed, somewhere near Warrington.

The previous arrangement was that he sent a completed back box and once swapped I sent my standard box to him, its a 15min job but need a grinder to remove your own backbox, alternatively (and I recommend) you can take it to an exhaust shop and have them remove and fit the box welding it into place rather than using brackets.

Did you managed to find someone to do the mod? I called RBM but was told they don't do that type of work there.

I'm in the south and drove to Warrington hah! He did my Vanos at the same time so it was worth it. I've not heard of anyone else doing it down here sadly.

Just had a chat with these chaps based in High Wycombe, they know the mod and have done it in the past, quoted £250 to do it. They also do not use flexi pipe for the mod, they said they've had to replace several flexi pipe modded backboxes which have failed

From what I remember it was a mail order back-box that never turned up that started the issues with DLV, so personally I'd avoid that.

Shame though because he did a great job replacing my crusty rear brake pipes and cutting/coding a new key for me in 2017.

I'm pretty sure Machine Monkey used to do a similar modification in Oxfordshire, but he doesn't seem to be on here any more.

I believe that's the case but to be fair prior to that there were multiple possibly 10 or more members who all got their backboxes without incident. My understanding was DLV had mega personal/family troubles with very serious sickness and thats what caused a lot of the issues, he also didnt deal well with the issues that it did cause (lack of communication etc)

you COULD take a look at eisenmann exhausts
I had a back box from them on my 3.0 e85 and loved it . Personally think it was worth every penny. DAVROS has one on he’s 3.0 also. Although he went for the girlie sport version rather than the RACE 🏎 oke:
There are some YouTube vids of then if you have a look, I liked it so much I got a full exhaust from eisenman as soon as I could after buying my e89 … I’m still smiling at the exhaust note now

Hi Dave. I actually had an Eisenmann on a previous 130i. It was on when I purchased the car and I must admit, I was really quite disappointed when I heard it. It was a touch high pitched and just didn't have the depth I was hoping for. In the end I sold it, replaced with a 135i backbox, and made a tidy profit. I'm not sure though whether it was the race or sport version however.

That’s quite an important bit of information right there. If I had one before and didn’t like it , I probably wouldn’t chance it again. I really do think that exhaust note is a very personal thing. What one person doesn’t like, another will find very impressive. Was just a suggestion though, I hope you do find something that suits, if so , let us know what you chose. Good luck with finding what your looking for

They quoted £350+vat for a drive in drive out option.
