DIY vinyl wrap

How did you get on with this mate? I'm seriously considering it. Would love to see your finished article. I would like to have a go myself but don't know if I fancy taking the risk.

Does the vinyl look like vinyl? I imagine it to look quite dull and thats another thing putting me off.
 
I recall a discussion on here where most people thought it was not a job to be taken on, i was of the assumption that it could be done given time and patience

another thing i thought is at worst case it looks crap, you can then peel it off and all you have lost is the cost of the material
 
What does vinyl do to the paint underneath? Can it be taken off easily? Say you leave it on, how long does it last and how much damage does it do when its taken off?

As far as I am aware it should just peel off without causing any damage, somebody may correct me though
