DIY Re-trim Leather..... Anyone tried?

Hi all...

I thinking about keeping my standard heated/electric seats and having them re-trimmed, it seems too much hassle to swop over heating elements, electric motors, occupancy mats and do the air bag mods, and I'm not getting any thinner and younger...

I've found a company in Germany that have a design that I love, they come out at 648EUR + 24EUR Shipping. This includes door card coloured panels, gear & handbrake leathers.... Has anyone re-trimmed a seat & door card?

This is the design..... (Not decided on actual colour yet, but love this..)

P.S Please don't PM me regarding my non elec, non heated sport seats .... I'm not selling them yet!

Might go & see a local trimmer to get priced up but I'd quite like to do them myself!

Love this colour combo with a black Z'd

That'a pretty cool, although I think that brown colour all over would look just as good.

Some different anyway. Can't be that hard to do. All you'd be doing is pulling the old covers off and applying the new ones. No stitching needed (hopefully).

My dad done that to his Mondeo seats after he dropped white spirit on the leather. Didn't take him long.

Cool!

I remember years ago when I had a Corsa  (GSi Red top 2.0i 16v Conversion) I watched a guy re-trim my bolsters within a few hours...
I'm wondering if it's worth paying someone if its not a major cost!

just remembered whilst typing, mat (Machinemonkey) has he as just pulled a seat apart ....

Don't know about the mat to be fair, but sure others have got round the issue keeping it working.

Mate listen to jonny boy, the pics you posted are unique so of course i love them
Get them Tel, your motor is sterling grey so i would get the first pics, or black with another colour.
Mine to get re-leathered was £800 but i had a discount of about £900

Thanks Jonny boy...I think the brown/black will suit the sterling too! I do like to be different! I'd happy to pay £800-900 all done

Terry those seats looks fantastic but the only thing I'd be worried about is that they will still be the same rubbish seats.

I'd hold out for sport seats or E89 M sport seats mate

I personally don't have a problem with the standard seats, just fancy something different, want to brighten up the interior as it's just black & grey, which is a little bland! I need some colour in my z'd :D

If I managed to get sport seats in the spec I want I'd still do a combo leather project of some sort, black on its own is boring me

Is it not cheaper to get a custom shop to reshape them and create your two-tone dream? I've spent all day decorating so my brain can't compute the potential maths versus other options!
