DIY detailing advice

Hi everyone

After getting quotes for bonnet and bumper respray upwards to £1500 I thought I'd be a bit more down to earth and try learn a bit myself, it's been detailed professionally before and a few marks wet sand marks have been left behind from stone chip repairs but really not that bad ..plus a few scratches and light swirls

I have so far, with advice from this lovely forum : purchased:

A) Maguires ultimate compound
B) 12 polishing foam pads from eBay
C) pack of clay bars from eBay
D) 50 cal Cover up filler glaze
E) Topaz hybrid / wax polish

Plan is to remove the wet sand marks, and scratches by hand (in photos, hoping it's clear coat because I can't feel them with my finger nails ... then if unsuccessful purchase a DA and learn from there ...

Sensible way of doing this ? Or doing it by hand is impossible on hard bmw paint ?

Mine is a deep sea blue e89

Cheers !

I've looked at a cheap Argos one for less than £60 ... Any good ?

I know little about all the polish and pad combos at the mo.. so clueless on this ... :D

It looks ok for £60 but it appears the cable is only 2 metres...a bit short. The motor appears to be 600 watt but I can't find out what size 'orbit' it has. If I was you I'd pay another £20 and get a DAS6 like this http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/polishing-machines/das-6-v2-dual-action-polisher/das-6-v2-dual-action-polisher/prod_519.html
This is a decent, reputable machine...I've got one. :D
Get some Chemical Guys Hex Logic pads and/or microfibre pads also and you'll be sorted.
