DIY carbon wrap

Having received an insane quote of £500 inc VAT to hydrodip my cars interior in a carbon effect i decided to give wrapping the items myself a go.
I was also surprised to learn that hydrodipping just uses car paint which I am sure would eventually scuff/scratch in areas like centre console.

So, I bouth a small roll of 7D gloss black carbon wrap £12, went and got my adjustable heat gun set it to 160 deg C and a tin of degreaser/cloth and off i went.
Its not easy to be sure but its certainly doable (is that a word?).

Doing it a piece at a time and if its a fail itll all peel off easily with no marking anyway.

Example below

I wrapped my e85 interior door handles to cover scratches, i used 3m vinyl and after 3 years they were still in good condition.

That price for Hydro dipping seemed very expensive, mine cost me £140 on my E86 three pieces only 18 months ago.

Agreed, I paid around 90 quid to have the 2 pieces on the dash done

I was quoted on 10 pieces, because it is dark wood they would need spraying in an even undercoat before dipping - hence the price.
