Dissapointing ride

hi,
only had my 04 2.2i SE for a few weeks. i am quite a bit dissapointed at how hard and harsh the ride is. i am feeling every bump in our terrible uk roads. the car is running on pirelli 17 inch 225/45 runflat tyres. i would really appreciate any advice about how to get a better ride as i dont enjoy the drive. should i change from runflats? move to 16 inch rims? and to what tyres? many thanks for any advice.

Welcome to the forum. Improve ride qulity - GET RID OF THE RUNFLATS. Stay with the tyre size you've got unless you want to go larger (18"). There are many threads on here which discuss tyre types/manufacturers so do a quick search.

Welcome -As you have the 2.2 you already have the most compliant suspension and 'softer' wheel/tyre size than the 18's, so all you can do as said is change tyres.

Tyre change will help, but I'd caution you've purchased a sports car and it's doing what it should do....

even if you changed to run flats you will still feel the bumps of bad roads. changing will make the bump softer, but it won't eliminate it. cj10 is correct, its a sports car/roadster so its really like that.

our z3 (with a softer suspension compared to our z4), 16s and thicker tire profile is still bumpy than any of our 10+ japanese sedans or my daily driver civic that's lowered and running on 16s with thinner profile tires.

I changed OEM runflats for PS2 runflats. Better, but it's a sports car so stiff is the way it is.

As above its a sports car not a saloon i am running on RFT on 18s and its like a limo after my lowered Calibra when it comes to a pothole or manhole cover
