Hi Guys,

The BBK i was planning to fit has been a terrible failure lol
More about this later.

So i have decided to go OEM disks, pads and sensors. (only need rears).
What should i be budgeting? Had a quick poke around on the forum and im guessing at £500 ish fitted by local garage.

Thanks

Angus

Much cheaper than that. I just bought a full set of rears from BMW for £196, pads are about £30 for Pagids from Euro Car Parts, sensor maybe £20. Not a big job to fit at all. One to two hours for a pro max.

That sounds reasonable. Many thanks! :)

Is there a general preferance for fast, quite hard road use pads?
Its had yellow stuff pads in since i have owned it and im not overly impressed.

Thanks, again.

I've just ordered a set of Performance Friction Z rates pads for the front which I rated on my M3 for occasional track use and "fast road". The best pads I've ever tried on a ///M car are Pagid RS29's, but you're looking at big money and just not worth it for the rears.

Hmm, i didnt think the M3 discs were compatible with Z4M's?

They do look different (drilled) to my rears, which also need replacing soon i think (got some rumbling in steering wheel under braking?)

No..

Rear discs are same as E46 M3..

Same part numbers..

Pads are different,as Z4M has CSL calipers

On RealOEM a part number application search for the Rear left Brake Disc shows it is used on the following models:

Part 34212282303 (Brake disc, ventilated, left) was found on the following vehicles:

E46: Details on E46
E46 M3 Convertible, Europe
E46 M3 Coupé, Europe
E46 M3 CSL Coupé, Europe

E85: Details on E85
E85 Z4 M3.2 Roadster, Europe

E86: Details on E86
E86 Z4 M3.2 Coupé, Europe

and for Front left disc:

Part 34112282445 (Brake disc, ventilated, left) was found on the following vehicles:

E46: Details on E46
E46 M3 Coupé, Europe
E46 M3 CSL Coupé, Europe

E85: Details on E85
E85 Z4 M3.2 Roadster, Europe

E86: Details on E86
E86 Z4 M3.2 Coupé, Europe

In which case - discs from Cotswold BMW are cheaper than ECP?!

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-BMW-E46-M3-Rear-Brake-Discs-Set-/121196157655

And at ECP, Pads are £39 for a set of Pagids, minus ~30% with ECP discount code.

Sounds like a good buy, need a garage to do the works with pre-bought parts tho, seems lots dont like to do that for loss of profit on the parts?

I just posted a similar thread earlier today and have done more research since. The rear discs fit the M3\CSL\Z4M. However Z4M fronts are shared with the CSL, not the standard M3. They are 325 vs 345mm. Do not buy the standard E46 M3 discs.

Shame you just missed out. ECP had them on sale last week at £163 each, no back up at £203.

luckily i think i only need rears! ill order a set from cotswold bmw via ebay i guess!

pretty much half price ECP?!

hi guys,

so how much will OEM and correct rear disks and pads cost for a MC ? also how much to fit them, approx?

I am looking at a car on which the rears pads look below 30% to me.

Thanks
J

Parts prices are as per the Ebay link..

Expect between 2-3 hours labour, rates depend where you are in the UK i guess...

Thanks, but I think the ebay link has changed,...it shows loads of discs and pads now, not any one particular OEM version which is what I would have fitted

Cheers

J

I replaced all my pads yesterday for ebc yellow stuffs (second set now) - brilliant upgrade over oem.

Took me 3 hours total as DIY job

£76.94 for pads
£19.78 for sensors
£246.53 for Discs

at 8% discount from Cotswold. Total £343 today quoted

Fronts are CSL discs. Rears... I dunno.

I was £500 fitted at the stealers earlier this year
