Disgusting Behaviour

Sorry to hear about this. It may have been accidental - my car was hit by an old lady when parked up. Luckily my son was waiting in the passenger seat and witnessed it happening - the old lady saw him trying to catch her attention; she smiled, waved back and just carried on driving. Eventually we traced her through the local police and her insurance paid for the scrape.
My son's girlfriend's experience was far worse. She does pro bono legal work at a local youth offenders' institute, and was backing up when she hit a staff member's car. It was a small <5mph impact, and there was only a small scrape on the lower side of the bumper. However, being the honest sort, she went back in and found the car owner. She showed them the impact, and left her number so he could let he know how much it would cost to repair. Next day, she gets told there is substantial damage under the bumper, the headlight is cracked (she was nowhere near the headlight) and other parts need replacing, and his local garage could fix it for "just" £3000. Needless to say, its now in the hands of the insurers.

Some years ago I parked my van on a slight incline with the handbrake on. Half an hour later an Asian lady came up to me and said my van had hit her car??, I went with her and found my van had rolled slowly about 6 ft and hit her car. I found out later that the HB disc had cooled and this allowed the van to roll. I asked the lady if she was OK and was told that she had returned from shopping to find the vehicles like it. I took plenty of photos prior to and after we had moved the car, barely a scratch to either vehicle. I called my insurance and told them what had happened in detail and I had photos. Some weeks later,my insurance called and said they had a claim for whiplash for her/husband/2 children and the car was a write off!!
I mentioned the photos and sent these to my insurance who then made a fraud case against her, I never had any more contact about this and no increase.

It's horrible. I had my previous car damaged in a hospital car park and my sister who is a nurse usually finds her car has been damaged by people who couldn't care less. Some are other staff members unfortunately.
I understand that a lot of people maybe stressed, emotional etc but if they can't navigate a car park properly they shouldn't be driving as who knows what they might end up doing.
I hope you get a good outcome, it really annoys me that people really couldn't care less.
My brother in laws RX8 was hit and substantially damaged by someone who left the scene. The car park cctv caught the culprit and it turned out it was a woman who instead of putting the car into reverse had put it into first and just put the foot down. After she smacked the backend she was so flustered she just moved the car around the side and took her car right along the drivers side causing thousands of pounds worth of damage and she thought she would get away with it. People like that should have action taken against them.
