[Edit Wondermike - these posts have been split to keep the original "for sale" thread cleaner]

Just thought I would warn everyone, I would steer clear of this seller.

I emailed the seller (because I am currently in South Africa for the World Cup) and asked a few of the standard questions and then said I would arrange for my wife back in the UK to come and look at the car. We then decided that for our third car this probably was a little more than we wanted to spend (especially given the "no offers") and I sent the following to toplad. I thought it only courteous after he had answered my questions to reply saying thank you but no thank you.

And what do I get back:

"You knew the price before you emailed me, so just wondering why you bothered wasting my time and yours in the first place

Not that I expected any thing to come of it of, people who are really interested use the phone."

With an attitude like that, I'm glad I didn't go any further with toplad as I would not trust buying an envelope from him let alone a £20k+ car.

So please, anyone else who is thinking of buying this car please be extra cautious.

Two sides to every story I'm sure.....

Not really, here are the whole 3 messages I sent Adam and his replies.

As I said, I am very glad I backed away because it would appear this would have been a difficult/angry seller to deal with.

What PVR says.

Also maybe it's your wording, but why would you make all these enquiries when the car is to expensive?

It would have annoyed me to.

Situations change; we had decided, after the initial enquiry, that it was more than we wanted to spend on a third car that is a Z4MC.

I thought I was being polite in letting Adam know our situation had changed; clearly should not have bothered.

inkiboo, have edited the PM out of your previous post, don't think it really adds anything either way and they should really remain between yourselves.

Not sure that I see the issue here TBH, you are entitled to change your mind, and I didn't think the response was especially arsey or anything :idunno:

The response was hugely arsey and typical of sellers I've dealt with you seem to take it very personally when you don't want to buy their car. Adam's diatribe has continued with calling me a "dreamer" via PM! Last time I checked, he had a Z4MC for sale not a Veyron!

I'm just thankfully I didn't decide to spend the extra because I would have serious doubts as to the history/condition of the car given the seller's reaction.

Good luck to anyone else who deals with Adam ... I have also warned Pistonheads as to his attitude.

All respect to toplad for keeping it private and not getting involved on public forum

Oh I see, so it's ok to hurl insults in private messages? Good to see forum buddies sticking together!

Maybe Pistonheads is the right place for this sort of thing, this forum is slightly different I think...

inkiboo, sorry you're feeling hard done by out of this, it's a great forum. Not sure what's passed between you guys, I think RX-78 is right in what he said... I trust the moderators to take a view on these things and follow their lead - my first call would be with them, not a posting. Anyway, that aside, with a bit of luck you'll find the right car soon. For a third car, if this is more than you want to spend, I'd consider a roadster.

Sorry OP, slightly off topic. That does look a nice car - do like darker M alloys

I've bought and sold over 10 cars on Pistonheads and obviously spoken to many different buyers and sellers in the process. At no point did I ever get called a chancer and a dreamer for changing my mind on how much money I want to spend on a 3rd car and having the audacity to be polite and let the seller know and thank him for his time.

This forum has been a goldmine of information about the Z4M and has helped, along with other sources, in our decision to get a Z4MC for my wife. In no way do I think Adam represents all users on here.

we have all sold cars and we all know what it like, lots of phone calls
people saying they what the car then not turning up, and if they do then
its silly offer time, so unfortunately theirs a lot of time waster out there :headbang: .
so as a seller its easy to get pi**ed off with it all and end up tarring buyers with the same brush. :|

"Life is short"

Personally I don''t think something so minor is worth destroying the guys For Sale thread.

To warn people the car is Cat C repaired, or something doesn't add up with the service history, fair enough....

To tell everyone he was mean to you? Not really.

This is one trivial lot of cr*p. How does being a bit nippy via PM add up to the guy being a bad seller or the car being a doubtful buy? Deal with it privately and move on.
