Discounts available when buying new?

doing the E of my BASE
hi all

really need your help- I cannot find a AUC that has the spec I want; the spec on E89 AUC cars are very basic in my opinion, maybe it’s just me but i am not interested in spending 30 to 40K or more on a car that has a basic spec or black leather; for this kind of money I want all the goodies.

So I am interested in finding out your views on what type of discounts are available / that I should expect to achieve if I was to go for a top of range Z4 sDrive35iS (E89 -N54 3.0i) brand new and fully loaded.

If I spec up on BMW online- it comes to retail circa 54K, dealer then adds another £2K to this for fuel, A Glaze, reg fee, road tax, service inclusive & delivery. Which makes it nearly 56 grand retail. phew :(

Talked to two main dealers so far and been offered 13.5% (approx 7.5K) and 15% (approx 8.2K) off retail but I feel this was not enough (for example last new car i bought prior to credit crunch I got 15K off a 50k car)

It’s not like people are banging on their door for top of the range top spec cars so i thought I could negotiate a proper discount, what’s your advice??

I don’t mind pre registered or nearly new with low mileage, but this ALWAYS means compromising in one area or another and - there appears to be only on 35iS in the country available and it’s white with black leather, yeugghh! it's gotta have some wow look at that, like petachs for example. i don't want too much bling buts its gotta oooze cool at least

SO...
(1)What discount is realistic to expect in current climate on a £50K+ car
(2)Are there dealers out there that would seriously discount just for the turnover?
(3) Would a dealer give me the right offer if I allow them to pre register first?
(4) Do bmw offer a further discount to prevent me for going for the Merc / or Porsche etc alternatives ? (as their discounts are far higher than anything I have been offered by BMW so far)

What’s the best way to play this if I want to have the 35iS with all the knobs and whistles?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Hi srhutch :)

well the 35iS is the top of the chain in the new style, according to BMW it is the M variant of the new style, have I been told a porky?

340hp / 4.8secs to 62 MPH / twin turbo / adaptive M suspension and all the goodies in the drive dept

The iS is faster than an 'M'

+ 0-125 in 15.8 seconds

I would put money on there being an ///M

But nobody will confirm that as yet otherwise the 35is wouldn't sell.

If you go pre-reg delivery miles on a 10 plate, like I did, you get a shed load off. I was offered a £54 grand 35 loaded with everything you could want for £37 grand. I turned it down and my arse is now sore from the daily kicking I give myself each morning.

I opted for a 30 at £34800 down from £52 grand, and I screwed GAP +SMart Repair out of them.

Who cares if there is one owner prior to me, who cares its on a 10 plate. I got a lovely jam jar which I am going to keep for at least three yrs.

Now the problem I have is that there is no 35iS demo available to test drive in the UK, there are sDrive35i but not 35iS. Do BMW HQ not want to sell these then????

I mean what would you do? Would you order a car at 40 to 50K that you couldn't test beforehand??? The inability to test drive one has also prompted me to contact merc and porsche for test drives this weekend-of the new Zeds closest competition, gotta make sure I am making the right decision huh!at least they both have demo cars available and they are offering serious discounts.....

Petach your car was a steal, since it only had 42 miles on the clock its hardy been abused, well not yet anyway

I had to order my car with no test drive (although I did drive the 35i) because I ordered the car in December

Hmmm I reckon 15% is pretty good. I will stick my neck out and say there will definitely be an ///M and it will use the S65 engine.

I expected to get a better deal in the current climate :( so I'll spend the next few days contacting dealers around the UK in the hope of a more realistic cost, otherwise it will be pre registered / AUC with no doubt a reduced specification.
