ive notice a few people on here say they get discount (10%) at bmw dealerships when buying parts, how do you get this, is it a perk of being a member of the bmw uk owners club? i seem to be buying a fair amount of parts so looking for a bit of a discount, or can you just haggle with the parts manager?

Sytner run a programme for cars of various ages. The programme I'm on for 6 year old plus cars (due to my X5) allows me 10% discount on all parts and 20% on all labour. I just asked and they gave me the membership card for free.

Sytner scheme is called 'Service Advance'

Can't speak of other groups but I bet it's similar

Do what I do tell them you next nearest dealer will give you 10% as your company has an account with them. For me it's the truth bu they have never checked.

As someone told me on the forum recently, the differences between the US and UK dealers are like chalk and cheese. Over here if you belong to the BMW Car Club of America, dealers give a 10-25% discount on parts and labour. Might be a tool to bargain with over there.

cheers guys, a trip to the dealers next week then, armed with part numbers from real oem it is, looks like ill have to ask if they will knock anything off, looking at buying new headlights, damaged one recently and after seeing the costs on ebay its not a huge amount more to buy new, plus i can upgrade to the chrome interior ones. im not sure about the clear indicator, and the part number seems to be discontinued for the clear/chrome/halogen lights, but ill ask anyway for a quote.

BMW Owners Club generally attracts 10% discount at dealers - has never failed for me. Discounts also available at several other specialist outlets.

Watch out for the "oh, that discount has alread been applied sir" bull they sometimes give.

Oh darn....that's happened to me and I thought he was telling the truth!

The original price and discount clearly shows on every invoice I get from Sytner. No trickery with these guys

Yup, that's exactly it. If there's no discount marked, then there's no discount applied - no matter what they assure you of.

Just ask. I'm tight, so each time I ask for a quote on something, I say 'hmm... that's more than I thought. Can you do any sort of deal on that?' - they always give me 10% off.

You need to take the card in then regardless you get the discount. Equally if you book the car in or phone a parts order then you have to tell then you have the card and they do the discount.
