Disconnected Battery: Now Windows Won't Auto-Up

Hi all,

I disconnected my battery recently and my windows won't close with the one-touch operation. They'll go down easily, just not back up!

I've tried a few of the suggestions I found on the forum, but can anyone give a definite answer that works?

Thanks, Mac, do you have the definitive solution to resetting windows?

I have tried:

http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=196

and

http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=62834

None of which have worked.

1. Turn ignition on

2. Press and hold window down, when window reaches the bottom hold for further 5 seconds

3. Press and hold window up, when window reaches the top hold for further 5 seconds

4. Release and turn off ignition

5. Done

Tom.

Thanks Tom, unfortunately I've tried that but to no avail. (I edited my post just as you replied, sorry!)

These silly windows are really beginning to annoy me!

Join the club! Doing this didn't seem to change anything on mine either..

You may have to repeat the above a few times but it does work.

Could you elaborate on this? Reason being I have done this reset on my 08 Coupe but the drivers window won't auto up :headbang: Did it a couple of times as well!

same happened to me, i did the reset and it worked again a few days later...give it a couple of days and see.

I had the same problem as you after disconnecting the battery, the passenger window rest fine but it took a bloody long time to get the driver side to work. But just repeating the up and down procedure eventually it got the message.

Tom.

Is it ignition onto a certain "position" or does the engine need to be on?

I've just tried it again, still no luck. :(

Second that! If I try it any more I'm going to wear the motor out!

I have noticed that the switch has two positions, the first being manual up and pull it a little further which is then auto up. (same going down. The passenger one works perfect but the drivers window doesn't. Going down both positions do as they should and it works fine however going up the first position does nothing! I have to pull it the second position for the window to go up in 'manual' mode as the auto doesn't work.

I have tried the reset many times :headbang: but still no joy! Is this going to be a :driving: to the stealers?
