Disconnect battery for a month?

Hi gents,

I'm going to leave my car for a month. I don't want the battery going flat and the alarm driving the neighbours crazy.
Would it be fine to disconnect the battery and leave it like that for the month? I park on the street so can do trickle charger.

TIA :driving:

Yes. Disconnect the -ve terminal and cover it with a cap or something insulating.

It's the slow drain that can reactive transport mode if it has not been deleted.

Car will go into transport mode if its not already been deleted. I'd take the battery off the car and put it onto a trickle charger unless its quite new.

AFAIK that gets triggered by gradual reduction in voltage. Disconnect it and you'll have no issue.

Logically, if it were the case, then every time someone who didn't have it deleted disconnected or changed battery it would trigger. I don't recall seeing reports like that on here.

Had mine off the battery for months on end. Just the window resets and clocks etc to be done when reconnecting

I suppose the best way to look at it is this.

You can't use a charger, so you either have to disconnect or let it drop. Or get a janky solar charger that may or may not keep it topped up.

If transport mode has not been deleted it is almost certain that the drop will trigger it. If disconnecting triggers it then that's possible too.

But transport mode should have been deleted; if it has disconnecting it will cause no issue and you'll be able to start straight up on your return, you can't do that with a flat battery.

If you have a proper smart charger you could also bring the battery inside and leave it on to keep it as healthy as possible.

It is definitely the gradual drop that triggers transport mode. I took a battery off one of my projects for six months. No issues at all

Definatley get a Trickle charger like CTEK, saves the battery discharging which they dont like....
But the OP doesn't have a driveway. So while still a good investment it's not going to help while they're away.

I suppose there is still the chance that yours was properly deleted. So if not a disconnect could trigger, but I'm not sure why it would be designed like that.

I didnt see that so he needs a sloar charger then.
