Disconnect air intake

Well on Christmas day changed the spark plugs, cleaned the flow sensor and removed the connecting air intake to the air cleaner.
The bit that connects the air box to the front scoop. Should say this a 23i.
Tried to fix the tail light, gave up ordered new one.

Did this because a year or two ago driving through a flood the bow wave bounced back off a side wall of a hedge row and swamped the air intake and filter. Lucky the paper filter got wet, engine cut out and no damage.

But i didn't want the same event this year, so the intake now draws air from inside the engine bay, like cars used to in days gone by.
And i have drilled half inch hole in the bottom of the air box, plus added a oiled k and n filter. Now also hear a bit of intake noise, sounds nice.

So yesterday bl**dy good job i did disconnect because some t**t that couldn't wait two seconds ploughed through a flood with me half way through, completely drowning the car. He must half been half up the verge.
If i had arrived 3 seconds later i would have given way to that driver.

I sort of know how this guy feels.
