Driving home yesterday along the outside lane of the A46 dual carriage way in a line of traffic overtaking vehicles on the inside lane moving slightly slower than us. It was fairly congested.

I glanced to my left and noticed a female, I am guessing 20 years of age, in a Nissan Micra probably doing around 50 mph. She was holding the steering wheel with her thumbs towards the centre. Clasped under her thumbs was an opened paperback book which she was reading.

It took quite a while to pass her and at no time did I see her take her eyes off the book! She was not far from the car in front and the line of traffic she was in was approaching a slipway with cars entering the carriage way from the left.

I have witnessed some pretty dumb driving in my time, but I think that took the biscuit. She could have so easily caused a major pile up with potentially awful consequences.

Rarely does other people's driving really boil my piss but I think yesterday it did.

Thought it wise not to distract her in any way and I concentrated on putting as much distance between us as possible and keep calm and carry on.

Total Disbelief. :headbang:
 
On my morning journey, I quite frequently see a young lady shaping her eye lashes using one of those strange mechanical contraptions with a Mirror in one hand and the other eye closed.

Maybe its just me ......
maybe its because Im getting old .....

but I cant help noticing that young folk these days wander through life oblivious to what is going on around them ...... :D

was having a beer some time ago downtown ediberg in a street side cafe thingy, people watching like you do .........
more than half the folk walking by were texting, or doing something with their phones ...... these are indeed wonderful days to be an East European pickpocket :D
 
Yep, I have seen book readers, make up application, general rummaging around on the passenger seat... But the one that really, really boils my own piss is texting :x :x
 
Ha - once witnessed a BMW 5 series doing 80+ in the "fast" lane of the M25 whilst using an electric razor in one hand and stretching the face with the other..

I would never read a book whilst driving....I prefer to wait till its on DVD then watch it on the iDrive!!!!!

haha....probably a good job I haven't had the mod done to allow video in motion!
 
being on a pushbike you see alot more of this sort of thing than you can from the drivers seat...

texting, facebook, email, paper, books, daydreaming - admittedly all in slowish traffic, but how many of them see me approach, pass and leave them behind on their outside?

All hold things in their lap so plod can't see.... which is worse cos their line of sight is pointing downwards leaving even peripheral vision out of the equation...
 
I have seen texting at extremely high speed on the motorway on numerous occasions - you can spot someone doing it in their rear view mirror. Then occasionally they will decide to make a call instead and lift it to their ear :headbang:

Some are quite considerate though - they pull over to the middle lane and slow down to 70 before getting busy :roll:
 
I once saw someone eating a sandwich with one hand and a can of something in the other. Hate to think how he was steering.
 
Knees. Guy I worked alongside as a lad used to steer the works van at 70mph with his knees whilst rolling a fag. Scary :cry:

That video reminded my of a time I was going down the fast lane of the A40 to Oxford and a Ford Ka with 4 young girls pulled from the slip road straight in to the fast lane at a speed 40 miles per hour. If I'd have hit them I probably would have been blamed for it.
 
On Friday I saw someone in a 5er with his hands at 5 to 1 on the wheel, holding his phone and texting with his thumbs :thumbsdown:

Then this afternoon I saw some dizzy cow in a Golf driving, both hands on the wheel but looking like Igor the hunchback wedging her phone between ear and shoulder making an erratic line down the road. :(

Then I was tailgated by some focus diseasal whilst cruising in IMmie and stuck behind a learner in a Kia. Fortunately I had the power to overtake when a suitable gap appeared which the Focus didn't, I did enjoy the look on his face when 4 zorsts and 6cyls opened the taps :evil:
 
Have you seen these pricks driving whilst talking on their mobile whilst holding it....but not holding it by their ears, they hold it just in front of their face. Obviously not wanting to be done for driving whilst using the phone, so they think putting it on speakerphone helps.

The cops would still see them.

They should put the phone on their lap!

:thumbsup: Full throttle in second gear at 40mph or third at 70mph is such a good way of getting rid of a tailgater :evil: :rofl:
