I was fuelling the Z3 up this morning...caught the eye of everyone who pulled onto the forecourt. Not bad for a 12 year old motor :)

Tim.

Probably in dis-belief that a man was driving a Z3 roadster :o

(Obviously in jest, given that I'm after a Z3 roadster myself  )

Just to wet your apetite :)

Lovely looking motor, Titan.

Beautiful looking Z3 Buddy, I drove the 1.9 and found it a little disappointing  :poke:

Cheers, I was originally after the 2.2 probably the best engine of the range but had real problems finding a mint example with lowish mileage and then this one came along so snapped it up. Not bothered with outright speed etc as past all the boy racer stuff now, condition is more important to me :) The 1.9 is the best handling of the Z3s as less weight over the front. Never been unhappy with it :)

It looks mint, I can't believe that it's only worth about 2k?

Its probably worth 4 to 5K privately or depends on what someone is willing to pay, but a dealer would probably only offer 2K tops as a trade in on a 1.9, low mileage is a bonus for haggling. Most Z3s have over 80k upwards on them these days so prices are pretty low but a good buy. Theyre a bullet proof car though, better built than my E89 and eveything is rock solid and no cheap bits of plastic or polysterene around the car that BMW use these days :(

I hear what you say about the plastic bits - but they were not without their faults were they?

Vey little on the Z3s, the vanos can rattle. Biggest problem was the rear diff bracket cracking and becoming detached and popping the boot floor welds, it was a problem more with the Ms and 3.0 but can affect all models, the 1.9 less so :) Worse on cars that have been abused. BMW did fix these under warranty upto cars 10 years old. Body wise they're great, very rust resistant. Camshaft position sensors can go but the engines are very good. Only problem I've had with mine is the boot loom fracturing where is passes from the rear wing into the bootlid and also affects the 3 series of the period. Mine failed at 11 years old so can't complain, BMW replaced it for 200 quid. Apart from that very little else. Only thing I don't like is the plastic rear screen which can crack if you lower the hood when its cold.
