Disa valve upgrade

Hi all
As I'm new to the Z4 community I've read about the Disa valve upgrade kit. My 3.0 N54 is on 70k and the car runs fine my question is should I upgrade it or if it's not broke dont fix it.

Do you have E85/86 or E89? I assume E89 but if so you posted in wrong section. In any case, no need to upgrade DISA on N52 or N54.

M54 engine then.

I’d say it’s worthwhile. Even if yours does work perfectly, they’re a known weakness. A small cost outlay for a bit of preventative maintenance. Won’t ever need to touch it again after, as they don’t fail, so you’ve not got to worry about it ever again :)

This. I put a new updated Disa valve kit on my 3.0 SE which wasn’t showing any signs of issues. When I took the original off the pin was all but about to fall out into the intake chamber. Dodged a bullet for sure. £60 for a kit that’s a doodle to fit.....why wouldn’t you...?

Thanks what kit did you get.

I got this one but there are several available. If you’re not sure how to change one Id be happy to talk you through it.

Thanks John been watching YouTube.lol.

 Yep do it Kev, the BMW pin is a tiny thing that could cause an awful of damage, crap design. Fit this kit with a screw threaded bar and forget it for life.

I used i6 automotive. I'm sure a few years ago X8R didn't exist. But essentially they're the same thing, get whatever is cheaper :D

I've seen with one kit no need to remove the orange seal the new black one goes over it.

On mine, I removed the orange seal so the black one had a groove to sit. The orange one will probably be flush now with the rest of the housing, so you really want to remove the old orange stuff first.
