so after reading a few of the threads on the DISA valve pin problem i went outside in the rain and checked mine out of paranoia, sure enough the little bastard was working it's way out. so i pushed it back in, and refitted everything feeling a little disappointed in BMW's workmanship on this. is a small part like that which could cause such catastrophic problems with the engine only held in by friction? or am i missing something? but regardless, the whole reason i wrote this was that i want to drill a hole through the pin itself and a matching one through the flap in the DISA valve and secure the thing properly with a cotter pin, so does anyone with actual experience with engines (as i really don't have any to speak of) have any objections to this, or reasons why BMW didn't do it in the first place?
