Disa valve replacement

I'm getting a rattling noise from under the hood and I suspect it's my valve. What are peoples thoughts on OEM part vs a 'made to OEM specs' valve.
Cost variance is huge $52 vs $500 cdn.

Thanks!

500??

I recently repaired mine with a aluminium repair kit:

Plastic ones are cheaper.

Check it first, very easy to remove and inspect.

+1 on the repair kit! I got mine for £33 on ebay and worked a treat. Took about an hour to remove, repair and refit, lots of YouTube tutorials to help you out.

Just make sure you get the right one for your engine.

Thanks! That looks interesting. Is it straight forward to repair?

I used this quality bit of kit...don't know where you got quoted C$500 but definitely cheaper than BMW and it's easy to fit.

Same as the one i used on mine

I'd suggest getting a good condition used (OEM) unit. Then rebuilding with a aluminium kit, I'm sure similar will be available in your country! :)

Yes it's really straight forward. The unit bolts off. You just remove the original bits, replace, then bolt the unit back on.

x8R have an instructional video on Youtube. The only thing to remember is that the paddle should be positioned differently to how it's implied in the video. They show you how to check that it's properly seated, and then cut away to bolting it in. That won't work. You have to turn it 45 degrees before bolting it down. You'll work it out. :D
