DISA valve rebuild kit

I purchased a similar kit about a year ago and fitted it. Very easy job, takes about 30mins.
The design is much better than the original BMW design.

No one knows to be honest, i think im still on the original one at 103k and when i checked it last year it was still going strong and looked good as new but it is worth checking your own, its easy to check and is worth it for piece of mind.
I fitted this kit from X8R last year and it was very straightforward to install and a good quality product. There are two or three companies offering kits and all seem to be very similar design.

I've just fitted mine, it says "Double check that the flapper valve can be rotated to the closed position and back open without binding. If you manually close the valve, then release it, the valve should spring back to the fully open position, except as noted below.
Note: The internal rubber boot of the vacuum pot has a tendency to kink when the valve is manually closed. This kinking may occasionally cause the valve to not spring back to the fully open position when manually closed and then released. This is normal and does not happen in the vehicle when the valve is actuated by vacuum. If the mechanism did not show any signs of binding in step #41, you have nothing to be concerned about. " mine opens a quarter way but only if i cover the vacuum hole, is this normal ?

Examined my DISA valve today. Pin is solid - OK. But the valve has some play. Can I use the rebuild kit or should the rebuild kit only be used with new DISA?
My DISA had no rattles at all but I took it off anyway and rebuilt it with the i6 kit. Glad I did because when I removed it the pin was halfway out the end and the flap actuator was so worn that it no longer actuated the flap. No matter what your mileage is, for twenty odd quid and about an hour of your time it's well worth doing and is a satisfying job too. It'll make you feel like you're Edd China.

The rebuild kit is designed to be used on used DISA valve. There is a test that you need to carry out to check that there is no vacuum leak and if all ok then it can be rebuilt.RenoRaines said:
The play in the valve will only get worse over time and will be allowing air to leak past. It is a satisfying to see the physical difference in the valve off the car and to hear the valve open and close fully when on the car.
