Disa repair or replace?

So I'm thinking of replacing my Disa as part of a big preventative maintenance job at the start of summer.
I'm now thinking the Disa might need to be done sooner.

The question is do I just replace the whole thing or get a metal repair kit from a place like x8r?

And if it's a straight replacement, where is the best place to source them from?

repair kits are very good and fairly simple to install

as with most things you get what you pay for so an X8R kit is top quality, you can get a chinese copy but would I trust it?
 
Take it out and inspect it. If the vacuum is fine then you can buy a kit to deal with the flap coming apart. You also want to replace the oring. If the vacuum is gone then replace it from BMW. Sometimes the BMW eBay store has a discount code so you can save a bit of money that way. Avoid the Chinese one imo.

I uses their VANOS kit which was superb!
Any input for i6automotive? Their kit seems quite highly regarded and is a good 30 quid cheaper than x8r
 
I highly recommend you buy the kit from German Auto Solutions, even if the flap is working. They get rid of the pin design that has the potential to fall out into the intake manifold and destroy your engine. It is expensive but worth every penny knowing your car wont grenade itself.

I repaired mine with an i6 kit I think. Great quality. I would do that again over buying a replacement just due to the fact that the flap is metal and the screw has no chance of falling out and detonating the engine.
