DISA Noise

When the car is idling the DISA unit is making a ticking noise.

I've had the DISA out, and cleaned it all up - and the rotation etc seems fine. The only thing I could see wrong with it was a tiny rip in the rubber along one lip, probably 3mm wide and about 2mm deep. It didn't seem close to being big enough to break the seal, but I guess I could be wrong.

If I pull the power to the DISA then the noise goes away.

Any idea on anything else to try, or should I be looking at replacing the unit?

Is it safe to drive with it making this noise, or is it safe to drive with it unplugged completely ?

supprised no one else answered?

from what i have read it's common as muck.

your not the only one, mine is ticking aswell. The unit is around £100 from what i read.

In my opinion (like to stress its only my opinion), it would never hurt the car, the motor/solenoid has just become weak over time and cant hold the flap shut anymore.

leaving it disconnected will cost you a bit of low end torque but i tried it for awhile and its not noticable, either way, its upto you :)

Cheers,
Ry
