Direct brake upgrade ?

Hi all - i think i might have an issue with one of my front calipers - under heavy braking it pulls to the left. The car drives perfect under normal conditions, and normal braking but not when you stamp on them.

If i have to replace the caliper i'd rather upgrade while i'm there, whilst trying to keep costs down.

Is there a direct, plug and play replacement from a better specced model, like the M2 or something as an example ?

does the E89 Z4 share front brake set up with any other model in the range of that age?

thanks in advance.

E90 BMW performance kit bolts straight on to an e89. It'd be a nice upgrade. 34110444738
Not sure if this price is still accurate from cotswold bmw (2018)

Just put one on my E89....nice piece of kit.

Be aware that the European Z4 35i has larger brake discs as standard than the E90 performance kit. In the eyes of the law, this is considered a downgrade and is therefore illegal.
For a, 30i or any of the 4 cylinder cars, you'd be fine.

On a 35i or 35is the only direct upgrade are the calipers used on the 440i/340i as well as the M4/3/2 along with 370mm discs.
I did this over a year ago and is an excellent upgrade, you should be able to find everything you need to know here:

Where did you get the kit from?

Picked these up second hand having only covered 3k miles, only thing I had to get was a brake sensor as this is different on the E90 range. My car is an N20 so a big upgrade for my car

that's really interesting, thank you. I've had a look at that link and some very helpful information there. I don't suppose you have all the part numbers do you? sorry to be a pain...

Not a problem, sent you a PM with all the details

The 135i (aka the yellow ones above) 6-pot setup is quite difficult to get hold of (second hand).

The F30 4-pot Brembo setup also fits and is much easier to find.
Someone on here fitted one but I don't have the link to hand.

Hey, would these fit on a 28i?
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Front-Rear-BMW-Brembo-Brake-Caliper-Set-w-Hardware-Off-of-2017-440i-MSport/184347617318?fits=Make%3ABMW&epid=3018204770&hash=item2aebf96826%3Ag%3AjBAAAOSwuHZe-4mA&LH_BO=1#viTabs_0

I am wondering too to upgrade my system brake without a big cost. :driving:
Problem on z4 2.0 & 2.3 is "fading issues" after many "requests" of brake.

Upgrading first with braided Brake Lines seems to be a good solution, what do you think ?

I'm suprised that you are finding the brakes fading..there have been few if any reports of road use E89s of the 20i/23i having issues..

General consensus is that for the short run of hose, you're money would probably be spent as well on OE parts..your's are old now anyway!

Similarly fresh fluid and maybe a change of pads to the Ferodo DS2500 type are the obvious routes

You can fit the 28i discs (330mm) and calipers..after that it gets more tricky..a few of use have done/are doing the BMW BBK that was destined for the earlier 3 series as Boltz posted..thats a £1,200 affair..

Yes..if you want to buy aerospace type hoses that’s fine...OE new rubber ones would be adequate ...price / what floats your boat makes it your choice
