Anyhow I followed the DIY I posted in here.
It's in italian but it's really understandable.
A few pics will come soon.

All the work took around 5.5 hours (but I'm not so good in this kind of work).

the only type of wood you can get away with in a Z4 i would say

I want to like it, but I'm not a fan of any woodgrain features/textures/whatever..you did a great job Ale 72 and a decent write up as that didn't look easy to convert over..

I can't stand that brushed dark aluminum trim that's in mine, seems dated already..I much prefer the smooth trim like in my 325Ci w/some tweaking..

To tell you the truth... Neither am I but after two year I was bored of the alu trim.
I still have to look at my new trim under natural light.
I just hope it will look darker than under neon light (here in Milan it's still raining).
Since I can have almost everything "wood tinted" I was thinking to other small bits to be converted :evil:

Do you think it stand up to daily use, how does the finish seem, like it will scratch?

I can tell you what I've been told by the guy who made the work.
The trims have been covered by:
3 layers of painting
the "wood"
3 layers of lacquer
1 layer of "wax"

He told me that it's resistant, and if it should happens to scratch, I should simply use some car polish to "repair" the damage.
From my (very small, indeed) experience, while I was "re-building" up the car it happened to have some minor scratches that went easily away with a wet microfiber cloth.
I think that I've taken out some wax, in this way, but the scratch was repaired.
Anyhow some other guys made this work some time ago and they're still satisfied with the result.
The person that made the work seemed to me to be really "aware" of what hew was doing, and since he is 55yo I want to trust him. :roll:

The surround trims of the speakers need to be done once again but I'll think about them on September.
