However I am the proud possessor of posh parents!

Now I live in the Midlands (Staffs) and have no idea anymore as even the locals are confused by this being neither one thing nor another!

I have however discovered an excellent snack which consists of oatcakes, bacon, cheese and a little brown sauce.

Now that's a real question. Tomato Ketchup or Brown?

I'm not so sure its a North vs South thing dinner or tea but more a class thing. I'm from working class Northern stock and call it tea. I have colleagues in the smoke from similiar backgrounds and they also call it tea.

Another vote for dinner here. Supper is post-dinner and pre bedtime, tea is sandwiches/cakes etc eaten in the afternoon before dinner or maybe later if your lunch was your main meal of the day.

Okay the correct definition of dinner is that it is the main meal of the day, thus it can be taken midday or evening, so if your main meal is in the evening then you have lunch and if its at midday then it's supper in the evening....simple

In the land of the heathen colonials it's called dinner or supper, tea time brings raised eyebrows and questioning looks. :?

Supper here in this part of the New World ...
On the East Coast some have a tradition called "Night Lunch"
So if you visit Nova Scotians after supper many lay on a spread of sandwiches and cakes.

Seems like nobody here has any chance of going hungry.
