Dinan

I have been bitten by the modding bug again. :D

As I mentioned in my other posts, for quite some time I have been searching for CARB Legal aftermarket parts for my Z4, and it has been unfortunate. For the last several months, there were no parts to be found. :(

Anyways, after reading another post earlier this week, I saw that someone in Florida was selling a DINAN CAI for a 3.0l Z4, and really looking at the setup, I was convinced to get one. So, I immediately called Dinan, and discovered that earlier this month (2-8-2008), Dinan had obtained several CARB Executive Exemption Orders for many aftermarket components for most of the engines in the Z4 class.

Being as excited I was about this news, I went ahead and ordered myself a Dinan High Flow Cold Air Intake System.

The expected delivery is on Monday, darn… Also, and after the CAI installation I have an appointment for the Stage 2 Performance Engine Software flashing….

Finally, for us Z4 owners in California, we have the opportunity to acquire CARB Legal aftermarket performance parts…

I will post pics after the installation….

Up Next…..Dinan Ram Air Intake Modification and Free Flow exhaust…

The Dinan CAI is a great product. The SE CAI is the best CAI developed for the Z4. It's a shame they couldn't stay in business long enough. But Dinan's CAI set-up is no slouch either. Good design and very well developed. There's also the Dinan front air-duct that you might also wanna consider adding. You definitely will feel a difference compared to stock.

I had the same CAI along with the snorkle (as a matter of fact I had DINAN's pre-production R & D in my car) , throttle body, stage 3 SW and exhaust - The car had a little more at the top end largely inpart to the 300 additional RPM off the limiter. If I had to do it all over again I wouldn't - far too much money IMO for the performace gain from these DINAN mods. My opinion now is if you want a faster car, buy a faster car and that is exactly what I did :D

I've got the air intake, the bigger airbox, the bigger throttle body and the stage 2 software. You can definitely feel the difference in responsiveness.... maybe a tad increased power overall.

In all honesty, I am not after large HP or Torque gains.....As for me, I am installing these parts because, they do provide proven results, no matter how negligible they may be, and most important, the components are "CARB LEGAL" (Not to mention they look great when you open up your hood).... :D

Now the real reason comes out. :poke: Wanted to know if there were any events coming up to see if you would have enough time to get a few more mods done. :fuelfire:

When we do get to finally meet, I need to remember to get you to pop the hood. I promise to bring a bib to catch the drool.
