I just got an email from Dinan, thay have finally released the remap of the engines in the s35i . I can't stop smiling for some unknown reason... :D :D :D

Stage one is an extra 66hp etc.
This is an exerpt from their website:

STAGE 2 PERFORMANCE ENGINE SOFTWARE/BOOST UPGRADE (Oil Cooler Required)
78 More Horsepower :D
116 More lb-ft of Torque :D
Top Speed Governor Removed

Factory Matching Warranty (4year/50,000 mi)

Properly Returned Fuel Mixtures

Remapped Water Pump Speeds to control engine temp

Free Dinan Software Updates for the life of the car

Oil-Cooler Required

Dinan Stage 2 Performance Engine Software for the BMW Z4 safely increases turbo-boost pressure, adding 78 hp and 116 lb-ft of torque, along with properly retuned fuel mixtures, ignition timing and full map rescaling. Dinan’s software also removes the top speed governor so the Z4 will be capable of achieving its natural top speed. Producing substantial increases in power output while maintaining the civility and reliability expected of a Dinan performance product. In an effort to more effectively control oil and water temperatures, the Dinan software actually increases water pump speeds as boost pressure increases. And as always, Dinan matches the new car warranty coverage for up to 4 years or 50,000 miles, including the possibility of consequential damages. No one offers better performance or backs it up with such comprehensive warranty coverage.

Increased boost pressure exceeds the turbochargers’ design limitations at higher rpm, potentially shortening their lifespan. Dinan addresses this issue by tapering the boost gradually at higher engine speeds. This approach also addresses the fact that with increased boost at higher rpm the turbocharger temperatures would exceed the intercooler’s ability to cool the intake charge, resulting in a loss of power and compromising the long-term durability of the engine. The tapered boost along with the required oil cooler keeps temperatures within the design limitations so as to optimize output and ensure engine reliability with the added boost pressure.

When BMW creates a software update so do we. Dinan will make software available at no charge to keep your car running as well as it possibly can.

It certainly sounds professional enough with the warranty and everything. Lot of extra power.

So the big question - are you getting it?

The Dealership that handles it is calling me tomorrow to set up a time. It's actually on sale (less20%) for the next month. $1950 plus GST (5%)

The history with all the 135's and 335's is excellent, a few minor glitches early on. The main thing is the full warranty coverage for 4 years and 50K, nobody else does it. My coworker had the stage 2 in his 335 and swore by it.

Be interesting to see what you think if you get it done. Do they have a demo you can try?
No demo, I'm probably the first E89 in the area to go for it but as mentioned, the same engine has been remapped for a couple of years now in the 135's and 335's. The hold up on this remap was the communication protocols (at least that is what I was told by Dinan). There are numerous chips available but most don't go into the details like these guys do and nobody else covers the warranty. That's why I'm going with the Dinan, plus it's all done through the BMW dealership so warranty is implied there as well.

(They were advertizing for a guinea pig test vehicle in California for the last year or so, the offer was free software but you had to be in the Morgan Hill area of Cal, and I'm not. )
