Dinan / Did I over pay?

So, I just ordered the Intake, Ram Air, and Stage 2 Software. I paid for the Intake and Ram Air in full to b/c they had to be ordered, expecting delivery next Friday. I'll install them myself, but like an idiot, I paid full asking price for them. $379 for Intake $359 for Ram Air.

Are these prices negotiable? B/c I've read somewhere on here of someone getting the intake for around $250. Ordered from Doylestown BMW in Pennsylvania.

Any luck I can get a deal on the software or any future parts?

THANKS!

Not sure if Dinan "deals" or not. They're quality parts and don't void warranty.
I'm way past warranty....

I know they're quality and they deliver what is advertised, but just trying to see if I can save some. We all know this is an expensive hobby! :P

If you are looking to get the Dinan badge the parts must be installed by authorized dealer of Dinan. Just FYI

From the rebate form, if they'll consider it for that, it should count towards the badge.

"6. If the consumer has installed the product, a photograph of the product installed on the vehicle is acceptable as proof of installation."

checked out their website and didn't find the answer

how much more out of the engine are you supposed to get from a Stage 2 upgrade?

what about stage 3?

anyone have before and after dyno graphs?

oh never mind ... they have a dyno graph under the "package" deal

$2700 for 12 more hp ... i guess bimmer did a great job with this engine since there isn't much anyone can do to increase the power ... Turner claims similar numbers, also w/ no increase under about 5000 rpm

Yep it seems BMW had got most of what was possible without bigger changes or compromising things too much for most people.

We have remappers in the UK doing generic remaps offering 16bhp *just* on a software update for a few hundred quid

thx phil

great info!

for the money you spent on the stage 3 set up, do you regret not spendng a bit more to get a supercharger?

Great to hear that you selected Dinan, for you are not alone

Also, and with regards to the product pricing, prices are negotiable. Before my purchases, the Dinan Regional CSR had indicated to me that if I was looking for a discounted price, I must directly contact an Authorized Dinan Dealer to inquire if they are willing to make a deal. As for me, I was fortunate to benefit of not paying full retail on a few of my purchases, that being the Ram Air Scoop & the Cold Air Intake System... :D Currently, I am attempting to find a deal on a new set of there 19 Inch LTW Wheels....The other way of taking advantage of not paying full retail is to call Dinan and candidly ask, "when will they advertise for any upcoming promotions or specials...I always make this inquiry evertime I call them. :)

If it is of any consolation, I decided on Dinan for several reasons; 1) the well applied research & development of there products, 2) exceptional product fitment, 3) the improved performance & handling gains, 4) reasonable pricing, and last and most important, 4) I reside in California, and there are numerous State and Federal Laws concerning the installation of after-market parts. As you may be aware of, here in CA, any aftermarket performance part that is installed in a registered motor vehicle needs to be CARB Exempt, along with an CA issued Executive Order Number. Without a CARB EO No., the vehicle is consider "illegal" to operate on any "public" road system. If caught, it usually will result in ridiculous fines & penalties.. :o

The majority of Dinan parts are 50 State legal!

By the way, if you recently purchased your products, don't forget to send in for your 15% Rebate Offer, which I understand will expire at the end of this month....

Good Luck with your Dinan install...

I had a bunch of Dinan parts in my '04 Z4.

Had? Car has gone now?

Boy pvr, you are behind the times.... Yes, sold it last week. Drove a Z4MC Monday. Really good car; thinking about it.... also thinking about just waiting til I can get a CPO M3. They should be returning to dealers in another few months. Since I have a Q45 as a beater, I'm gonna be choosy. :)

I knew you were thinking about it, but had not realised that the deed had been done.

As a punishment, I will read all your other 8000 posts to see if I can sport it .... :tumbleweed:
