Dim Sat Nav Screen

Hi everyone,

I have been finding my factory nav screen very dim and in some light conditions near impossible to read.

Having not seen any others I'm unsure if this is just the way it is, or if the backlight or similar is on it'sway out.

Anyone ever had this problem - tried a search and couldn't find anything.

Mine is very dim sometimes when I start off but it gradually adjusts itself as I drive. It's as though the photoelectric cell by the light switch is very slow to react.
 
Tried adusting the brightness but this setting isn't remembered as per:

Interesting that it dims when lights are on. I use auto lights so might be a case of them coming on early and screen dimming when it's actually still light outside. Seems worst when I first pull off too.
