Dim Headlights - candles would be brighter!

Has anyone else fitted the Astra HID's from HID-direct?

A friend/ mechanic tried fitting them yesterday and said that he couldnt without cutting the clip that hold the bulb off, and if he did might not be able to hold the new bulb in place?

Could someone post a web link from HID-direct of a tried and tested HID kit for a facelift Z4? It would be much appreciated! Hopefully I'll be able to swap with the astra ones if need be.

^^^ That's the exact kit I fitted to my pre-facelift, but as far as I know post-facelift halogen units are the same as pre-facelift. Over 12 months in and working great.
 
I removed the front wheels to help with access thru the hatch, and I'd say I'm got big hands and managed fine. You've got to snip the existing headlight wires to fit the adaptors for the HID units, but apart from that it's really quite easy. Hey, if I can do it anyone can :poke:

I spoke with HID-direct this morning and said to make the Astra lights fit ill need to either order some cut clips or cut existing ones myself. Anyone else had this?
 
I'm sorry for being stupid, but will this kit fit inside the headlight housing?

I'm starting to get confused as to why people are suggesting the slimline astra kit of the one above will do the job :-?

When on main they are so bright that street signs, especially in rural areas reflect back and down (presumably designed that way and dazzle.
Secondly the road is so well lit for so far that when you dip for oncoming traffic it's as though you plunged into a black tunnel and can't see sod all. Alright on a straight road but on fast twisty A roads I find myself slowing and wondering where the hell the road goes next.
